This study asked whether different constituent parts of the teaching profession (primary age phase) held a shared perception of 'good' practice? It established that there is a high degree of consensus between teacher trainers, teachers and teacher trainees concerning the desirable attributes of a 'good' teacher and the criteria one uses to recognise 'good' teaching. The judgements made by these three groups were not arbitrary, rather they were were the result of the consistent application of clearly articulated criteria.
