The
Development of Attentional Control The
ability to control interference between stimuli in the environment and our current
goals is crucial to everyday behaviour. Infants and young children gradually
develop the ability to inhibit inappropriate responses and select correct
paths of action. This gradual development is apparent through multiple
responses: from simple eye movements to manual reaching, etc. What factors
influence the development of this ability? Addressing this question requires
developing tasks that can be used across a wide age range. My interest in the
